Our philosophy
Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire. - Wiliam Butler Yeats
The ability to learn is a fundamental human characteristic that can be nurtured and strengthened in an atmosphere of fun and freedom. Holistic learning lies at the heart of our endeavours. Learning is part of the natural growth and development of every child, and, adult.
We are firmly committed to child-centered learning in our school. Learning takes place in an inofmral but not casual atmosphere. Minimum restrictions are placed upon the children and they can move about freely. By reducing emotional and physical stress the child is enabled to respond joyfully to learning. The ability and desire to learn is an inherent trait which finds full expression when fear is minimised. By not forcing the child to conform to some pre-conceived pattern we allow full play to his or her creativity.
Poorna aims at developing intellectual ability, values of compassion, social sensitivity, humility, respect for each other, respect for the earth, joyfulness and quest for excellence in whatever children do. Simply put, Poorna aspires to educate children so that they develop academic skills, emotional well-being, and an awareness of contemporary development issues, thus becoming caring members of society.
