Our Community

About ninety children, ten teachers (including special education teachers), and four support staff make up the Poorna community. As some children may have learning disabilities, Poorna has always been involving and employing special education teachers as and when the need arises. We believe that a community of teachers, staff, parents and children from diverse religious, social and economic backgrounds adds to the growing and learning experience of all, and, is a microcosm of society. Thus, we continue to encourage and accept children from all backgrounds.

Our Community Kitchen
Community Lunch:
For the last two years, we have had a weekly community lunch. Parents come and prepare lunch together with students and teachers, creating an atmosphere that conveys, 'we are one (parents, teachers and students)’. We serve simple, hot and healthy food, occasionally with sweets. From the youngest to the oldest, everybody looks forward to the community lunch.
