About Poorna
Too often we give our children answers to remember rather than problems to solve. - Roger Lewin
Poorna is a small, inclusive school of children, teachers and parents from a wide variety of social, economic, religious and professional backgrounds. Here, everyone is encouraged to respond openly to learning everywhere. We learn from each other and with each other whether we are parent, teacher or child. Analytical, creative and social skills are all valued, and children are encouraged to develop their own strengths and interests in these and other fields alongside the academic requirements for further studies. As the name suggests, Poorna hopes to provide an environment where the "whole" can develop.
Students of Poorna have an option of completing the grade 10 course by taking the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) - conducted by the University of Cambridge (http://www.cie.org.uk/qualifications/academic/middlesec/igcse/overview)
or
the NIOS examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling, Government of India (http://nios.ac.in/).
